Frequently Asked Questions
Never heard of Reiki?
The word Reiki (pronounced ray-key) simply means Universal or Spiritual (Rei) energy (ki or chi or prana). Reiki is channeled gentle energy healing used for relaxation, stress reduction and to help feel more peaceful and balanced.
Life force energy flows through and around all living things, but sometimes, as a result of everyday life, these pathways, channels and energy centers can become blocked or unbalanced. Reiki can help to get energy flowing through again.

Can you diagnose my animal?
Nope. I’m not a vet. And you should talk to your veterinarian when needed.
But Reiki can help with many physical and emotional issues your pet may be feeling and to restore physical and emotional well-being. And that can activate the natural healing processes of the body and allow for healing to happen.
Reiki can do no harm.
My animal is currently being treated by my vet. Can they still receive Reiki?
Animal Reiki works very well with and is complementary to (but not instead of) most veterinary treatments that your animal is currently receiving.
Overall, it can be a gentle and supportive complement to traditional veterinary care. But if you are still hesitant, please feel free to check with your vet before scheduling a session.
Can you change my animal’s behavior?
No, animals have a mind and soul of their own. BUT, I may be able to get a little insight as to what is going on and why they are doing what they are doing and possibly help coordinate an understanding of how to improve the situation.
How can you help my animal?
Reiki can help with many physical and emotional issues your pet may be feeling and to restore physical and emotional well-being.
When in a more relaxed state, energy pathways in the animal’s body can open up and allow for healing to happen, including alleviating pain and discomfort and encouraging quicker healing from injuries or illnesses.
Additionally, Reiki can foster a deeper, more peaceful and harmonious bond between you and your animal(s).
So how does Distance Reiki work?
Hmmm…Good question! The best analogy that I can come up with is that it works a little bit like Wifi or Bluetooth. No, I don’t have a good understanding of how those work either, but I do know how to connect my electronics to them.
And I also know how to connect and channel Reiki energy using intention and focusing energy in a way that works at a distance. Whether you're at home or far away, the benefits of reiki can be experienced anytime and anywhere, even for those that have already transitioned. Energy knows no bounds.
Why would I choose Virtual/Zoom for sessions?
There is a lot to be said for an animal being in the comfort of their home with a loved one. They tend to be much more relaxed and open to receiving Reiki energy. Bringing them to an unfamiliar location and meeting a new person can be upsetting to some animals. And with Distance Reiki, they don't have to.
My goal is to reduce stress and anxiety which then increases the body’s natural ability to heal and better benefit’s your animal.

I highly recommend Nancy for Animal Reiki. We had a session over zoom for my dog, Harlie. Harlie is a very nervous and anxious dog who constantly shakes and was doing so when she was introduced to Nancy. After Nancy started the reiki, Harlie became visibly relaxed. Soon she was laying down and stretched out resting comfortably. After the session she was very calm, relaxed and wasn’t on “high alert” as she moved around the house. Nancy also gave me some helpful tips to help my dog release some of her excess energy. It was a great session, and I would definitely do it again. Thank you Nancy!

You can do Reiki from a picture?
Yes! Much like distance reiki works while on Zoom, I can connect to your animal family member's energy from a picture. This is a great option if you are away from them and would like to offer them some comfort while separated or if you are unable to find an appropriate time to meet. You will receive written feedback of these sessions.
How often should I schedule a session?
While you may see improvements after just one session, usually issues build up over time. Additional sessions may be helpful in balancing chronic problems.
How do I get my animal to sit still for the session?
The great news is that they don’t have to! Your companion should be free to get up and move around if they choose. Or they can sit on your lap, their favorite bed, spot, or perch.
If they choose to get up and leave the room, that is often a signal that they are done or not interested. Reiki should not be forced on anyone and that includes animals.
I see lots of dog and cat pictures on your site. Can reiki help my bird/turtle/fish/horse?
Reiki is Universal Life Source Energy and can help any species of animal – domestic or wild. Ask me the story about my reiki session with a friend's turtle!
