The Veil is Thinner Now

ree

At this time of year, lots of us feel closer to our family members that have crossed or transitioned. You might think of them more, you dream of them, you might smell a familiar smell like Grandpa’s cologne or Grandma’s cooking, or you might see a significant sign such as your family’s last name on the side of a truck or mom’s first name on a store sign with her favorite flower.  The veil is thin right now (the so-called barrier or boundary between the physical and spiritual worlds) and that makes the connections easier and more frequent all around.

But what about our pets that have crossed?  My pets are definitely my family members.  Are they reaching out to us too?  Have you noticed anything recently that especially reminds you of them?

For me, there are 5 dogs and 3 cats that are family members that have crossed, and in the past week, I have gotten very strong connections and signs from all of them. Out of nowhere, suddenly Otters are popping up for me everywhere.  No, I’ve never lived with an actual otter, but I know that the Otters showing up for me are from my Wheaten Terrier, Madigan. I always felt that somehow there was a connection between Maddie and Otters. Otters are some of the best Mama’s on the planet and so was Madigan  Maddie, or Maddie Mama as we called her, was the overprotective mama of the rest of the pack, even though the rest of them outweighed her 42 lbs by 3-4x. Occasionally I would send the pack to doggie day care.  When I picked them up, thinking they would be exhausted from play, I was told that Maddie Mama made everyone sit in the corner most of the day, and when they did venture out to play, she was right in there keeping an eye on them to make sure nobody got too rough with her 160lb babies. I also called her my Jr. Mama as she was a great helper to me with the giants.  And as soon as I finished writing this, 3 more otter posts in a row showed up!  I just smiled and laughed and I called her name and she said to me “You were a good mama too, mama!”

What about the others?  Dill, my Newfie Lab mix, has been sending me lots of posts of dogs smiling.  Dill was one of those dogs that could really smile and had his big toothy grin ready for me whenever I came home.  Finnegan’s name just keeps popping up for me everywhere – book titles, other dogs we meet, TV shows, etc.

And Laki and Yeti have been in frequent conversations with me this past week or so.  We’ve been working on a project together that I’ll talk more about another time.

So now that you know that those little reminders that you’ve been getting and sudden thoughts and memories of them are real signs and connections from your loved ones that have been reaching out to you, can you think of any of these reminders from your loved ones that make more sense now?  Have you noticed that they are way more frequent right now? If so, just go ahead and smile and say hi to them and tell them that you love them.
